Lady with Midas touch
A special lady has the touch when it comes to attending baseball games. If she were playing ESPN’s Streak for the Cash, she would have already earned a red star after rooting for the eventual winning team on five straight occasions. The intention started out as merely hitting as many ballparks as possible. Pittsburgh’s PNC Park. Check. Washington’s Nationals Park. Check. Cleveland’s Progressive Field. Check. St. Louis’ Busch Stadium. Check. Four down, 26 to go. This lucky fan still has a long haul before she can be considered the counterpart to Stephen Krupin, who was recognized in Sports Illustrated last October for attending 19 games in which his Washington Nationals lost during the 2009 season. But it’s a streak nonetheless. There have been its share of close calls. Take Win No. 2 for instance. Earlier this season, Pittsburgh’s Ryan Doumit blasts a solo homer over the right field wall to lift the Pirates past the Atlanta Braves 3-2 in 10 innings.
